Jérôme Taveau is Scientific Advisor at Fike Corporation, where he conducts research in gas and dust explosion safety, oversees non-standard explosion protection designs and non-standard combustion testing, and lectures on process safety and explosion hazards.
Jérôme previously worked for the French Department of Atomic Energy, the European Space Center in French Guyana, the French Department of Defence, and the French Nuclear Safety Institute in Paris, where he helped government agencies develop and apply chemical safety regulations and new land-use planning policies for high-risk “Seveso-type” facilities. Prior joining Fike Corporation, Jérôme also worked for BakerRisk in Texas where he participated to large-scale vapor cloud explosion tests, analysis and modelling with FLACS.
Jérôme is a senior member of the American Institute of Chemical Engineers (AIChE), a member of the Loss Prevention Programming Committee (11a) in charge of the annual organisation of the Global Congress on Process Safety (GCPS), and a regular session chair at this event. He is the current secretary of the American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM) E27 committee “Hazard Potential of Chemicals” and a principal member of the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) combustible dust related committees. He has also been an active member of ISO TC92 SC4 “Fire Safety Engineering”, CEN TC305 WG3 “Potentially Explosive Atmospheres – Explosion Prevention and Protection”, the Fire And Blast Information Group (FABIG), and the chairman of the FLACS users’ group.
Jérôme has published 17 articles in peer-reviewed journals and presented technical papers at various international conferences. He is a member of the editorial boards of the Journal of Loss Prevention in the Process Industries and Process Safety Progress.
Jérôme holds a Bachelor of Science in Engineering, a Master of Science in Chemical Engineering, a Master of Science in Process Safety and is currently completing his PhD in Combustion and Fluid Dynamics at the Delft University of Technology (TU Delft).
Jérôme chairs the next edition of ISHPMIE to be hold in Kansas City on August 12-17, 2018.
